If you've never tried playing in a LARP, and are just a little curious, PlotLuck is just the game to try. There are very few rules to the game and most of those get explained just before the game starts. Here is what you can expect when you arrive at one of our games.
When you arrive, check in with the GMs (Game Masters, they're running the event and should know what's going on) Usually they'll have a table in the front of the room. If you arrive early, the GMs may want to ask you a few questions to help cast you in the right role. If you've played other role-playing games before, you'll likely know how to answer these questions. If you've never played role-playing games before, just let the GM know and she'll be able to ask the right kind of questions and select a character that is right for you.
Once a character has been chosen, you will be given a folder which contains:
| 1. | Character Sheet | This contains all the information you need to start playing. *Read This First!* |
| 2. | Background Sheet | This contains important information about the setting. |
| 3. | Index Cards
Examples: Click on them for more detail. |
These are representations of all the items carried by the character plus descriptions of any special abilites the character has. All index cards are color coded. Blue cards are items which look like guns, yellow cards are knives green cards are anything which doesn't look like a gun or knife. White cards aren't items, they represent a character's special abilities. Some cards have two sides - one which is the obvious side (i.e. the one which tells other players what they see when looking at the item) and one is the hidden side which tells the owner of the card what the item really does. Don't let other players see what index cards you have until you are ready for them to see the cards. |
| 4. | Name Tag | Put the name of your character on it and wear it some place easily visible from the front of you. |
